blog #6 -- setembro

I think that September has been our fastest month in Portugal!  So fast in fact, that on September 18th Jeff and I were going about our day and didn't even realize it was our Anniversary until the US started their day (about 2 PM our time) and we started receiving 'Happy Anniversary' emails!  Oops - probably not the best record considering we've only been married for three years!

We had such a great month with visits from the Hamilton's and Jeff's brother!

On the domestic front, we did have some developments.  We are successfully growing oranges on our patio.  This is a big accomplishment considering that plants have a 1 and 4 chance of surviving under my watch.  Do you see our oranges?  They're quite camouflaged, but there are 3 of them.

And we have a new pet!  This resident gecko makes an appearance on the patio every evening, but I have noticed that we don't seem to have as many bugs.  Thank you Mr. Gecko.  Our first pet - what an exciting milestone.

I made a trip to one of my favorite cities in Europe!  Paris!  My hotel was right next to the Eiffel Tower and I walked passed it on my way to the office every morning.  Now that is what I call a good commute!

And returning home late from work isn't so bad when you've got this....

But my favorite is the creativity of the French on a warm September day.  They don't have beaches, but improvise by creating some along the river!  Works for me!

It is SO nice to have visitors as it gives us something to look forward to, helps the time to go by quickly and it's the best to share the European experience with your closest friends and family.  September brought Molly and Jesse Hamilton to town and we were so happy to see them and to host Jesse's first trans-Atlantic trip!

They flew into Lisbon (after about a 6 hour flight delay - watch out for stupid American Airlines, cheap, but unreliable!) and two hours later we were on the road to Seville!  We had the best time with them and they taught us how to be the sophisticated type of tourists that really blend into the local scene!

Seville was hopping in September as compared to the ghost town that it was in July.  We developed a great routine though...walk around for an hour, hit a bar for an hour, walk around for an hour, eat something, etc, etc.

Go to http://euroyork.spaces.live.com/ to read about the rest of the month of September!  We've moved to a new blogging technology which will hopefully help me stay more up to date on my blogging as it is MUCH easier to use!
